As the final project for my drawing class- this was done in 2 hours. I was terrified at first. But. Working with negative spaces really works..Along with ease of medium of course. I enjoyed Charcoal- blistered fingers and all..
Have come away completely in awe of Georges Seurat's work.

I really love this portrait- if I may say so myself!! Oddly enough, it took a lot of hand wringing. The original photograph had a lot going on in the background- flowers, people, trees, sunlight.. My client was nervous that the little one is not going to be too happy with those symbols in the background when he is older! I did not give this too much thought as the background and the foreground feed into each other along the way- sometimes the process is instant and not so with others, This was the latter. It took a lot of working and reworking to get this right. As always the results are worth the pain!

Started work on Reflections 2009-2010 as one of the three co chairs at the district level. It is going to be fun. A lot of work, but fun.
